Mattress startup awake and growing in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Tuft & Needle, a mattress company based in Phoenix, more than doubled its workforce with a recent hire of 10 employees and plans to employ 72 by the end of the month.

The company was founded in 2012 and received this year’s Consumer Reports’ “Best Buy” rating in addition to receiving the highest customer rating of any mattress currently on Amazon.

Last week, Tuft & Needle demonstrated its culture by donating 100 mattresses to UMOM, a Phoenix shelter for homeless families. Co-founder Daihee Park said the donation was part of its commitment to growing the community.
