Phoenix constructing jobs by the thousands

PHOENIX — A new report from the Associated General Contractors names Phoenix as the metro area gaining the most construction jobs over the past 12 months with 8,200 added from September 2014 to September 2015. The Valley employs 102,800 construction workers, a 9 percent jump over the 94,600 reported last year.

Other markets demonstrating strong growth in construction include Denver, which added 7,900 jobs, Seattle with 6,900, Los Angeles with 6,800 new construction jobs, and Las Vegas and Orange County with 6,200 each. New York added 1,800 jobs in the sector, Chicago piled on another 4,900 and San Francisco was up 2,300 construction jobs.
