Raise your glass: Arizona beer industry brews economic growth

PHOENIX – Beer brings economic growth and prosperity, according to the National Beer Wholesalers Association. From brewers to bartenders, the Arizona beer industry employed 36,627 people in 2014 and generated more than $800 million in state and federal taxes. The 2014 economic output was nearly $4.3 billion.

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reported the Arizona beer industry accounts for around 1.5 percent of the $279 billion total gross state product. With enough wages and jobs to place it 19th among all of the states in the U.S., the Arizona beer industry was 21st in the country for economic output.

The study included brewing, wholesaling and retailing, and included costs of brewery equipment, and even salaries of delivery drivers and bartenders in its analysis.
