Arizona exports kept almost 100,000 jobs in state

PHOENIX – Last year, Arizona exports totaled more than $21 billion, supporting 93,354 jobs, according to a U.S. Trade Representative and Department of Commerce report. The report notes Arizona exports have risen in value by 57 percent since 2004. National exports have seen record highs for five years now.

Export businesses in the U.S. number more than 304,000 and most are businesses with fewer than 500 workers on payroll.

A Tempe-based company, JWB Manufacturing, has fewer than five employees. The machine shop is an aftermarket producer of wire cutting and stripping blades and is one of only three in the world. Exports to 13 countries account for up to half of the company’s business some months.
