Arizona close to full employment

PHOENIX – Arizona added 30,000 jobs in February, dropping the unemployment rate to 6.5 percent, a number economists say is close to full employment. State job gains beat the February average gain of 25,000 jobs.

Sectors with gains included leisure and hospitality with 5,900 jobs added and professional and business services added 2,000. Manufacturing gained 1,300 and construction was up by 100 jobs. Financial activities added another 1,600 jobs.

Unemployment rates dropped in cities across the state with Phoenix dropping .4 points to 5.4 percent and Tucson down to 5.6 percent. Unemployment rates fell in Flagstaff, Lake Havasu City, Prescott, and Yuma, as well.
